This is a 4 pocket oxford research mini electron beam evaporator. Typically deposition materials are provided by 2mm wire, and up to all 4 pockets can be run at the same time, but this unit is equipped with a hv combiner box that allows 2 pockets to be run at a higher power (400w instead of 200w) allowing material to be evaporated from 1/4" diameter rods or moly or alumina crucibles. The source can be used inverted if no crucibles are used. The source has local front panel control or can be controlled via the included computer (note the battery is bad on the computer prompting you to reset the clock at boot up - I figured better safe than sorry and will leave this for the new owner to fix). Includes a bunch of new filaments, crucibles, rod / wire source mounts, and a handful of evaporants, including almost an ounce of platinum! Not shown are 1/4 slugs of 96.5% pt 3.5% au and 80% pt, 17.5% fe and 2.5% au.
